{on-the-go} hair

January 19, 2010

Updated low chignonI love this look! I am hooked on chignon hairstyles right now! They are so easy & they look so chic.

How To {works best with a day-old hairstyle}

1. Tease the crown of your head.

2. Pull your hair back into low ponytail about 1 to 2 inches above the nap of your neck.

3. Twist your ponytail, take your index and thumb & push from the ends of the ponytail to the base {where the ponytail holder is}.

4. Begin securing the messy bun to your head with bobby pins {use about 6 bobby pins}.

5. Finish with a light spritz of hairspray.

Its not supposed to look perfect, so just play with it and have fun! Its a great look to wear to work or class if you are running a little late, like I usually always am!

be one step ahead of the trends with this simple look!

I was surfing the web today and stumbled on Dolce & Gabbana’s Summer 2010 collection and fell in love!! So I just have to share it with everyone….I know this isn’t really hair related but I do love the styling they did with the hair.

amazing shoes and hair!

So I'm sort of in love with these shoes! I don't know how much they cost, but I kind of don't want to know because I know I couldn't afford them!! haha

I love this hair look. She looks angelic/sexy but tough with her boots on!!

To achieve this look and be one step ahead of the trends you want to start with wet hair, just out of the shower. Towel dry your hair so it is only damp.

If you have curly or wavy hair add a quarter size of straightening cream into the ends of your strands.

If you already have straight hair add a small amount of smoothing serum to the bottom half of your hair.

For you curly/wavy hair girls, let your hair air dry as much as possible before blow drying it with a flat paddle brush. Part your hair down the center of your head, drawing a line with your finger from the tip of your nose all the way back to the crown of your head.

Ok, now just blow dry your hair with the flat brush. Don’t worry about getting is super straight, because thats not the point to this look. Just make it look effortless. I always think thats a funny saying because whenever a hairstyle looks effortless you know a stylist spent plenty of time on the “effortless” look…anyways….

Blow dry your hair trying not to create volume. The flatter the hair sits against the head the better!

To finish/set the look I would spray the bottom 3/4 of my hair (avoiding the roots) with a shine serum. Don’t try and hide your fly-aways, because they are all over in this look. Just give your hair a healthy shine and ta-da!! You’re finished!

Tell me what you think about this summer 2010??? Will you be rocking this winter and spring???
