{on-the-go} hair

January 19, 2010

Updated low chignonI love this look! I am hooked on chignon hairstyles right now! They are so easy & they look so chic.

How To {works best with a day-old hairstyle}

1. Tease the crown of your head.

2. Pull your hair back into low ponytail about 1 to 2 inches above the nap of your neck.

3. Twist your ponytail, take your index and thumb & push from the ends of the ponytail to the base {where the ponytail holder is}.

4. Begin securing the messy bun to your head with bobby pins {use about 6 bobby pins}.

5. Finish with a light spritz of hairspray.

Its not supposed to look perfect, so just play with it and have fun! Its a great look to wear to work or class if you are running a little late, like I usually always am!

Never afraid to try a new and different do!

I love Whitney, she has a very romantic-thrifty-classic-glam style. She is sexy and chic walking the red carpet. Or casually pulled together strutting the streets of The City.

What’s your favorite Whitney Port look?

new years eve hair inspiration…

December 30, 2009

new years eve hair ideasnew years eve hair inspirationsparkle shoeszooey deschanel

I love the old Hollywood glamour of the first look! I think that’s how I’m going to do my hair for NYE!!! I can’t wait! I have a light, dusty pink and black sequin dress I will be partying in all night! {don’t you love the sequin shoes I slip in there too}

The half-up do is so girlie sophisticated chic. Adding a little sparkle or feather or flower hair accessory jazzes up any simple black dress. Instantly you are New Years Eve festive!

I love both these styles because you have your hair partically or all the way down, because you can’t truly dance your heart out without your hair flying around on the dance floor…that said…if you pick the Zooey Deschanel style don’t for get the BOBBY PINS 🙂

Have a happy and safe New Years everyone!!!

be one step ahead of the trends with this simple look!

October 29, 2009

I was surfing the web today and stumbled on Dolce & Gabbana’s Summer 2010 collection and fell in love!! So I just have to share it with everyone….I know this isn’t really hair related but I do love the styling they did with the hair.

amazing shoes and hair!

So I'm sort of in love with these shoes! I don't know how much they cost, but I kind of don't want to know because I know I couldn't afford them!! haha

dolce and gabbana hair summer 2010

I love this hair look. She looks angelic/sexy but tough with her boots on!!

To achieve this look and be one step ahead of the trends you want to start with wet hair, just out of the shower. Towel dry your hair so it is only damp.

If you have curly or wavy hair add a quarter size of straightening cream into the ends of your strands.

If you already have straight hair add a small amount of smoothing serum to the bottom half of your hair.

For you curly/wavy hair girls, let your hair air dry as much as possible before blow drying it with a flat paddle brush. Part your hair down the center of your head, drawing a line with your finger from the tip of your nose all the way back to the crown of your head.

Ok, now just blow dry your hair with the flat brush. Don’t worry about getting is super straight, because thats not the point to this look. Just make it look effortless. I always think thats a funny saying because whenever a hairstyle looks effortless you know a stylist spent plenty of time on the “effortless” look…anyways….

Blow dry your hair trying not to create volume. The flatter the hair sits against the head the better!

To finish/set the look I would spray the bottom 3/4 of my hair (avoiding the roots) with a shine serum. Don’t try and hide your fly-aways, because they are all over in this look. Just give your hair a healthy shine and ta-da!! You’re finished!

Tell me what you think about this summer 2010??? Will you be rocking this winter and spring???

super simple {back-to-school} hair ideas

September 22, 2009

How do I fix my alarm-clock-didn’t-go-off, my roommate didn’t wake me up, I stayed out late last night, haven’t shower in a while, didn’t quite finish my homework and my cell phone is dead hair?

Low Chignon {a.k.a. low messy bun}

A super simple and quick way to have presentable hair while walking to class. Part your hair down the middle, pull hair back to the nap of your neck and secure with a ponytail into a messy bun sort of thing. The messy and crazy the hair the better!

Change it up with the Chignon off to the side a beautiful flower hair accessory {check out geishapearl.com}

Skinny Headband with High Chignon

{how to} wavy beach hair

August 1, 2009

Create those beachy wavys all the celebrities are rocking this summer. Start with dry, clean hair. Separate the bottom half of your hair from the top layer, securing the top layer out of the way. Curling your hair becomes more manageable with out all the hair in the way.

Begin curling two inch square sections by wrappig the hair around the curling iron. Don’t clamp the hair down, just wrap each section around the barrel leaving the ends free to hold. By not curling the ends of the hair, it gives it a more relaxed casual feel like you just left the beach. Repeat the same curling technique to the middle layer of your hair. Once you have finished the bottom and the middle layers of hair release the top layer and you’re done!!! Simple! Now you have the sexy beach hair all the stars are loving. To enhance your beachy wave look, try a salt-infused spray like Bumble and Bumle Surf Spray (http://www.bumbleandbumble.com/product/spp.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CAT72&PRODUCT_ID=221).
