Never afraid to try a new and different do!

I love Whitney, she has a very romantic-thrifty-classic-glam style. She is sexy and chic walking the red carpet. Or casually pulled together strutting the streets of The City.

What’s your favorite Whitney Port look?

new years eve hair inspiration…

new years eve hair ideasnew years eve hair inspirationsparkle shoeszooey deschanel

I love the old Hollywood glamour of the first look! I think that’s how I’m going to do my hair for NYE!!! I can’t wait! I have a light, dusty pink and black sequin dress I will be partying in all night! {don’t you love the sequin shoes I slip in there too}

The half-up do is so girlie sophisticated chic. Adding a little sparkle or feather or flower hair accessory jazzes up any simple black dress. Instantly you are New Years Eve festive!

I love both these styles because you have your hair partically or all the way down, because you can’t truly dance your heart out without your hair flying around on the dance floor…that said…if you pick the Zooey Deschanel style don’t for get the BOBBY PINS 🙂

Have a happy and safe New Years everyone!!!

at home lip scrub for super soft lips

December 10, 2009

Ok so I just moved to northern Minnesota where it is freezing, dry and windy and it feels like my lips are permanently dry and flakey.

Fortunately, I developed an awesome lip scrub using things I already had in my dorm room. So, if you’re like me and don’t have a lip scrub and don’t want to buy one, but your lips are in desperate need for an exfoliator, try my homemade lip scrub recipe.

All you need is chapstick and sugar. First, coat the pad of  your finger with chapstick (Burt’s Bees is my favorite) until you have a thick coat. Then sprinkle sugar on your chapsticked finger and then simply rub it on your lips. You may have to wipe off some of the sugar that sticks to your lips.

My lip scrub is super easy and cheap and you will have super soft, kissable lips! (even in Minnesota winters) :]

What’s your favorite lip scrub???

natural remedy to a dry scalp

December 3, 2009

Winter’s here…I know, yuck! Every winter season my hair and scalp always get dry, so I headed to my local natural beauty shop to remedy my problem. Here’s what I learned:

Try a shampoo and/or conditioner with Tea Tree Oil in the ingredients

Tea Tree Oil for hair productsTea Tree? What’s that? Its an essential oil obtained by steam distillation of leaves of a Melaleuca alterifolia, a plant native to Austraila.

So why should I use it in my hair? Tea Tree Oil has a healing and soothing property that helps skin cuts, burns and infections.

Ok so really why should I put this in my hair? Tea Tree Oil contains consituents called terpenoids, which have been found to have antiseptic and antifungal activity. If you are someone who is struggling with a dry, itchy scalp, Tea Tree Oil is a natural product that can help to eliminate your scalp problem. Tea Tree Oil can significantly reduce the symptoms of dandruff, leaving you flake free and confident!

I picked up a shampoo with Tea Tree included, called Giovanni. Here’s a link to their website: http://www.giovannicosmetics.com/ I have only used the product once, but I’m hoping it will help my scalp without all the harmful and stripping chemicals found in everyday dandruff products.

I will keep you informed on my opinion of the product!

Have you used any dry scalp or dandruff products?? What did you think of them???
